Meet Jessica

I’m a 20-something college graduate running my own business, an online blog and web design shoppe, The Frilly Coconut.

I just recently moved into an apartment with my boyfriend of four years, whom I affectionally refer to on this blog as Dearest.

I hate to be the one to give him an unwanted online presence, so I try to allow him to remain anonymous. ;)

When we first moved into this place not very long ago, we knew immediately that it was a diamond in the rough.

It’s not perfect, but it’s affordable and it’s ours, which is all we can ask for at this point.

So what does that mean? That means that I’m learning a lot.

I’ve learned how much I absolutely love to be in the kitchen! I knew that cooking was something I enjoyed before, but now I’ve realized how much I like to experiment with new recipes and try my own things, too. I seem to have a very supportive guinea pig who doesn’t object to much, which really encourages me. ;)

My Simply Complicated has been in existence for well over a year, but it’s recently made a huge transition. This place started to feel more and more uncomfortable for me - I was blogging about my life, which I love, but it wasn’t what I wanted to share online and it certainly was more work than it was worth.

So, in true Jessica-style, I set my mind to transforming this place, scrapped it all, and created something that feels more like me.

You’ll find me blogging about recipes, DIY projects and crafts that I create for our home, and different tips and tricks I use to manage our household. We’re young and on a budget, so I can promise that things are done with financial boundaries in mind – crafts and cooking included.

My faith, my family, and my friends are undoubtedly the most important things in the world to me! I’m stubborn, head-strong, and independent, but I’m also sensitive and emotional.

Dearest is someone who has taught me patience and understanding…more-so than anyone else was ever able to, at least. Don’t let me fool you – I still know how to put up a fight; I just try to avoid it. ;)
